Waitematā Endoscopy (WE) has marked a significant milestone, celebrating 18 years of providing high-quality endoscopy services with an education evening for GPs and prescribers. The event also featured Colin the Colon from Bowel Cancer NZ, a giant inflatable colon, for guests to step through, representing WE’s action-oriented interpretation of “endoscopy” as “getting to the guts of it”. 

"With fit-for-purpose facilities and experienced specialists, we are helping solve the problem of timely access as a barrier to having a colonoscopy or gastroscopy, with our ability to offer appointments within seven days of a referral to the group in most cases. Plus, also increased wider treatment options with advanced endoscopy,” says Clinical Director Dr Ali Jafer. Southern Cross Healthcare CEO Chris White says its success reflects the organisation’s wider commitment to investing in healthcare services, with a focus on improving access for patients so they can access the care they need, when they need it.
